It’s essential to have a consistent workout schedule. Why? Because exercise releases the chemical serotonin in your brain that makes you happier, more productive and less stressed in every aspect of your life. Sounds simple enough right? But it’s really not, especially when you’re juggling a career and maybe even kids.
When you begin to set a workout schedule for yourself, as a working/busy woman, there will be hurdles. The biggest one – time. Here are a few ways to help you get fit faster:
Be Honest about your Goals:
If you’ve decided to start exercising with weight-loss goals in mind, you’ll need a much more rigorous schedule than a woman who just wants to maintain her health and de-stress at the gym. The recommended amount of time given to your workouts should be 50-60 minutes, 6 times a week. But for someone who has a heavy work-load or you have a very busy schedule, look towards hitting a minimum of 150 minutes of exercise a week (2 and a half hours over the course of 7 days? Yes! We can!).
Baby Steps:
Going too hard too soon with your workout doesn’t help you. You’re only setting yourself up for failure or even worse, injury by going overboard. Stick to the workouts that you’ve set for your body and your schedule. The longer you workout, the more it becomes ingrained into your strength, stamina and schedule. As you get better, you can increase the level of your workout to something more or increase the number of days you workout during the week!
Schedule in Advance:
No matter how hard we try, there’s always something that comes up which takes precedence over our workout. Next thing you know, you’re lying in bed, on a Sunday morning, and you realize that you haven’t worked out even once that week. Treat your workout schedule like you would an important business meeting (would you ever miss a business meeting?). Instead of lazing in bed all Sunday, take some time out and plan out your week; and don’t forget to add your workout to that list!
Get your Friends Involved:
Don’t feel like working out everyday because you won’t be able to see your friends as often as you’d like? If you prefer working out in the evenings, call your friends too. Check out a new fitness class or go for a run together. Regardless to what your workout of choice is, it’s always a lot more fun with your friends. Also, it doesn’t hurt to get your friends on to the fitness bandwagon either.
A Little Exercise is Better than None at All:
There will be days when you don’t have too much time to workout for a full hour. We, at Fiticket believe that, “a short workout is better than no workout at all.” So what if you work out for 10 to 20 minutes a day, you’ll feel better for not missing your workout and even though it’s a minimal effort, your fitness goals will still be on track. Remember, time spend working out will help clear your head and help you look at projects with a fresh, clear perspective everyday.
